Sadly Pepper one of our first pigs ever to be rescued over seven years ago has sadly died. We rescued Pepper along with his brother George from someone's back garden where they had no shelter and were very over weight. George sadly died last year also of old age. Pepper had seven happy years with us, and had made many new piggie friends in that time, he will be missed by our pigs and all the volunteers that helped care for him, and got to know his very shy but cheeky personality.
Even though we are extremely full with horses,we just couldnt say no to Cally who was due to be shot yesterday 4th november by a local hunt if we couldnt take her. We recieved a Phone call on sunday from the previous owner of Cally explaining that she had an appoinment on Monday to be shot by a local hunt, because she had broken someones ankle whilst being backed. Further investigation showed that Cally has a back problem and cannot be ridden. She is nine years old and has a lovely gentle nature. She would make a great companion to another horse or pony, she is 15.2. Please consider a donation towards the care of Cally this winter.
We have brought all of our 11 pigs into stables and barns for the winter, as their tiny woodland area and arks are just to muddy, even for our piggies that usually love to play in it. We have purchased 4 new arks that will be erected in the spring ready for the pigs to explore and snooze in when the weather is dryer.
Our latest arrivals at the sanctuary Baby and Billy. Baby and Billy were in a home that no longer wanted them as they were destroying their apple tree! Within days of having them back at the sanctuary, they have shown such lovely characters and have now found a loving home which they will be going to in a few weeks.
We found Millie the black and white kitten on the side of a road between woodford and Great Addington, she was terrified and hungry and obviously had been dumped. She is now looking for a home that will keep her for life.
